Penn President Amy Gutmann joined together with the Penn Community to officially dedicate Simone Leigh’s Brick House sculpture to campus.  This monumental sculpture adds a striking image of strength, grace, mystery, and resilience to our campus, and she is inspiring countless conversations about her meaning and significance.  Other members of the Penn community sharing their own unique perspectives during the ceremony were Vice President for Social Equity and Community Chaz Howard, C’00, University Trustees and Brister Society Co-Chairs Michael L. Barrett, ENG’89 and Patricia Martín M’85, grad student Guerline Laurore LPS’22, and undergrad Taya Lowery-Williams, C’22.  This exquisite sculpture, that honors and celebrates strong Black women, is a loan and promised gift to Penn by Glenn Fuhrman, W’87, WG’88, and Amanda Fuhrman, C’95.  It is a true gift to Penn and to the City of Philadelphia.
