Commencement 2020
May 18, 2020
As in-person festivities have been postponed, Penn live-streamed its “first” 264th Commencement for graduates and their families across the city, nation, and world in a tribute to the extraordinary Class of 2020. In addition to honoring the graduating Class of 2020, the tribute featured remarks from University Chaplain Charles Howard, President Amy Gutmann, Provost Wendell Pritchett, each of Penn’s twelve school deans and Honorary Degree recipient and 2020 Commencement speaker, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The program also included performances by the Penn Band and dozens of performing arts students who joined Penn alumnus John Legend in singing the Red and the Blue.
