Engaging Minds NYC
December 14, 2019
Penn President Amy Gutmann joined over 650 alumni and friends at the annual Engaging Minds event in New York City. This event brings three dynamic Penn faculty members to share their groundbreaking research and work with our alumni, who have a lifelong passion for learning. The speakers were Sarah J. Jackson, Presidential Associate Professor at the Annenberg School of Communication, who spoke of “#HashtagActivism: Networks of Race and Gender Justice”; Duncan Watts, Stevens University Professor, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Annenberg School for Communication, The Wharton School, who shared “The Myth of Common Sense: Why Everything that Seems Obvious Isn’t”; and Michael Weisberg, Professor and Chair of Philosophy, School of Arts & Sciences who presented guests with “The Galápagos Paradox”. Each of their talks were followed by a Q&A with the audience moderated by Provost Wendell Pritchett.
