Penn President Amy Gutmann met Penn juniors at the steps of College Hall, following a tradition that reaches back to 1916, as they celebrated Hey Day 2014.  The junior class donned red shirts, strutted along Locust Walk carrying mahogany walking canes, and bit into their flat-brimmed hats.  The Hey Day celebration is unique to Penn and follows the last day of classes marking the "moving up" of juniors to the senior class. With the sun shining and a welcome light breeze blowing, this year's event began with a class picnic, followed by the traditional triumphant procession to College Hall.
