Penn President Amy Gutmann earned a 2020 Inclusive Leader Award from GlobalMindED, a national nonprofit that aims to close the equity gap by creating a diverse talent pipeline through networking, mentorships, internships, and more. At the virtual celebration, Gutmann noted how education has the power to transform lives—if it’s made accessible to students from any socioeconomic background—just as it transformed hers. She added that being more inclusive is “not only the right thing to do, it is also the smart thing to do. When we’re at our most diverse, we’re also at our creative best.”
